PURPOSE OF NAP

The purpose of Ghana’s National Adaptation Plan is to prioritize climate change adaptation actions in the medium and long term.

NAP VISION / MISSION

Increase climate resilience and decrease vulnerability at the national and sub-national levels for enhanced sustainable development.

NAP GOAL(S)/OBJECTIVE(S)

Strategic Objective 1: To reduce vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, by building adaptive capacity and resilience to enhance economic development.

Strategic Objective 2: To facilitate the integration of climate change adaptation, in a coherent manner, into planning processes and strategies, within all relevant sectors and at different levels, as appropriate.

GENERAL STRUCTURE

Ghana's NAP has nine chapters, including introduction; policy and regulatory framework; climate hazards, risks, vulnerabilities and impacts; sectoral risks and adaptation actions; district level risks and adaptation priorities; implementation and institutional framework; financial resources and budgeting; sustainability strategy; and monitoring, evaluation and reporting. There are two appendices on the enabling policies and adaptation option assessment criteria.
