To transition to a climate-resilient South Africa, which will follow a sustainable development path, guided by anticipation, adaptation, and recovery from a changing climate and environment to achieve our development aspirations.

1. Build climate resilience and adaptive capacity to respond to climate change risk and vulnerability

2. Promote the integration of climate change adaptation response into development objectives, policy, planning and implementation

3. Improve understanding of climate change impacts and capacity to respond to these impacts

4. Ensure resources and systems are in place to enable implementation of climate change responses

The NAP is divided into 13 chapters: the country context, the vulnerability assessment, the adaptation measures, and the implementation framework. There are two annexes: proposed key messaging for adaptation communication and indicators for M&E.
